The Indonesian government has launched a new Golden Visa programme to attract foreign nationals and corporate investors into the country.

The programme was launched in September 2023 as announced by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regulation (Permenkumham) Number 22 of 2023 regarding Visas and Residence Permits, and offers holders a whole host of benefits including:

• Multiple-entry visas for themselves and their families
• The right to live and work in Indonesia
• The right to own property in Indonesia
• Tax exemptions on certain types of income
• Holders also do not need to apply for any additional permits to stay or work in the country.

Those considering applying for the Golden Visa programme can choose from a five or ten year residency depending on the total amount of investment offered.

A further breakdown is as below.

Individual Investors:

• Establish an Indonesian company worth at least US$2.5 million (for a 5-year visa)
• Establish an Indonesian company worth at least US$5 million (for a 10-year visa)

Employers & Corporate Investors:

• Invest at least USD 25 million or approximately IDR 380 billion (for a 5-year visa)
• Invest at least USD 50 million or approximately IDR 760 billion (for a 10-year visa)
• Invest at least US$350,000 in Indonesian government bonds, public company shares, or savings/deposits (for a 5-year visa)
• Invest at least US$700,000 in Indonesian government bonds, public company shares, or savings/deposits (for a 10-year visa)

Additional Funds:

• Golden Visa applicants must invest US$350,000 (approximately IDR 5.3 billion) in Indonesian government bonds, public company shares, or savings/deposits for a 5-year visa
• For a 10-year visa, applicants must allocate a sum of USD 700,000 (approximately IDR 10.6 billion).
